Through the strategic cooperation agreement with Viettel Post, the leading US postal group FedEx expects to expand its operating network in Vietnam, thereby optimizing its global connectivity and unlocking a breakthrough for cross-border supply chains. On the afternoon of 22 April 2026, FedEx and Viettel Post officially announced the establishment of a strategic partnership in Vietnam. The agreement marks an important milestone in synchronizing domestic handling and unlocking international logistics flows between the two sides. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan stressed that logistics currently plays a lifeblood role directly determining the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods. Therefore, to break through in logistics, the Government issued the Vietnam Logistics Service Development Strategy for 2025-2035, with a vision to 2050, setting concrete targets for infrastructure modernization, digital transformation, and green logistics. The collaboration between FedEx and Viettel Post not only augments capacity but also creates a tight linkage between the international network and the domestic system, contributing to enhancing Vietnam’s ability to connect goods to global markets, Deputy Minister Tan affirmed. At the event, Masamichi Ujiie, President of FedEx for North and South Asia Pacific, said that Vietnam remains a strategic growth market in FedEx’s regional growth strategy. Through this collaboration with Viettel Post, FedEx reaffirmed its long-term commitment in Vietnam, while also enhancing its ability to provide faster, more flexible, and better connected global services to customers. Under the cooperation agreement, from 26 April 2026, Viettel Post will take on the role of operator for FedEx’s nationwide network in Vietnam, supporting the rollout of an enhanced operating model to improve network efficiency, including end-to-end pickup and delivery processes, warehouse operations, and customs clearance coordination to enable more efficient, integrated, and reliable cross-border flows. Meanwhile, FedEx will leverage Viettel Post’s nationwide coverage, fleet, and solid domestic infrastructure to better serve customers in Vietnam’s burgeoning trade and e-commerce market. Integrating FedEx’s global logistics network with Viettel Post’s domestic logistics infrastructure will create a more seamless end-to-end supply chain, enhancing customer experience through higher flexibility, optimized delivery times, and expanded service coverage. By shortening delivery times and extending pickup windows, Vietnamese businesses will be better positioned to access international markets, especially as cross-border trade grows rapidly. According to Phung Van Cuong, CEO of Viettel Post, the cooperation is expected to help Viettel Post handle nearly 2 million shipments annually, with a total volume of over 26,000 tons, connecting goods from Vietnam to more than 220 countries and territories worldwide. In the initial phase, the two sides will connect the China-Vietnam-ASEAN markets, then expand to other potential markets such as Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, and especially the United States and Europe. The collaboration with FedEx will enable Viettel Post to access global markets quickly by meeting green and smart logistics standards worldwide, Cuong added.
