Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) is accelerating fleet standardization and upgrading the passenger experience as it prepares to launch long-haul services under its “Rise to the World” strategy.
In July this year, SPA is scheduled to receive two Airbus A330 aircraft after finalizing branding and standard configuration. The aircraft will support certification checks and AOC (Air Operator Certificate) drills by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
The A330 fleet is expected to begin operations in September, enabling a network that links Phu Quoc directly with long-haul markets including Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Australia, Mongolia, Oman, the Czech Republic, and Turkey.
SPA representatives said the Airbus A330 will increase capacity for long-haul flights and introduce a new passenger experience standard. For the first time on the aircraft, SPA will add a Premium cabin alongside its lie-flat 180-degree business cabin, designed to offer additional options for intercontinental journeys.
Alongside preparations for the long-haul network, the carrier is upgrading the passenger experience, standardizing service platforms, and reconfiguring its narrow-body fleet, particularly the Airbus A321.
The Airbus A321 has been redesigned with the “Élégance Indochine” style, described as a fusion of French luxury and East Asian cultural spirit. The interior includes improved legroom and comfortable seating.
SPA said the leather uses advanced mineral-based technology intended to support durability for up to six years while maintaining softness and breathability, and meeting FAR 25.853 fire standards.
According to the airline, the cabin space is designed to resemble a “resort in the sky,” with details intended to enhance relaxation and security. SPA plans to complete the interior fit-out across the narrow-body fleet by October this year to establish a consistent experience on every journey.
SPA also aims to become a full-service airline by upgrading its products and building a consistent brand identity. The airline said these steps are part of realizing the “Rise to the World” strategy.
The A330 investment is described as a pre-operational milestone ahead of SPA’s delivery of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. SPA has a 40-aircraft order with Boeing valued at USD 22.5 billion, with deliveries expected from 2031.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
