After a sharp drop of 2.3 million dong per tael in both directions on the week’s first trading day (May 11), buying and selling prices for SJC bullion at trading units entered a tug-of-war, with each move up or down less than 0.5 million dong per tael.
In the morning session today (May 14), the bullion market fell into a quiet state. Buying and selling prices for SJC bullion at trading units were flat, generally around 165 million dong per tael.
In the morning session on May 14, selling prices for SJC bullion across major networks stabilized around 165 million dong per tael. Only Ngọc Thẫm priced bullion offered 1 million dong per tael lower than others.
As of 10:30 on May 14, buying prices for bullion at SJC remained at 162 million and selling prices at 165 million dong per tael, unchanged from the previous close (May 13).
The trading range of 162–165 million dong per tael was also listed by other major networks such as DOJI, PNJ, Bao Tin Minh Chau, Bao Tin Man Hai, and Phú Quý. Compared with the May 13 close, buying and selling prices at these units remained unchanged.
In Ho Chi Minh City, after a 500,000 dong per tael decline in both directions on May 13, at the morning open Ngọc Thẫm still held SJC bullion trading at 161–164 million dong per tael. As of 10:30, the price level remained unchanged.
Mi Hồng was the unit that recorded two flat sessions (May 13–14). This brand continued to hold buying and selling prices for SJC bullion at 163.5–165 million dong per tael throughout the morning session.
On the world market, spot gold futures traded in a tug-of-war. As of 10:30, May 14, spot gold was only up about 0.1% from May 13, reaching 4,692.1 USD/oz.
According to Vietcombank’s exchange rate (including taxes and fees...), the gap between domestic bullion prices and world gold prices continued to narrow to about 14.24 million dong per tael. For 4-digit rings, the gap ranged from 5.74 million to 14.24 million dong per tael, depending on the brand.
