Ho Chi Minh Highway through Da Nang in severe disrepair. The Ho Chi Minh Highway segment through Khâm Đức and Phước Năng communes (Da Nang City) is in serious disrepair with hundreds of damaged sections, the road surface cracked and bumpy after storms, posing a risk of traffic accidents. Practical observations show that along the Ho Chi Minh Highway in Khâm Đức and Phước Năng communes there are numerous damaged sections. Many sections of the road surface are cracked and broken into large chunks, forming long 'potholes' and 'humps'. Alarmingly, in many places the cracks cause the surface to shift, one side bulging up, the other sinking, creating an uneven ride for vehicles. Local residents say this condition poses a crash risk, especially at night or in rain. The damaged and degraded sections date back to after the floods of 2020. After the 2025 monsoon, many degraded points have been repaired, but not yet completed. According to Mr. Ho Cong Diem, Chairman of the Khâm Đức Commune People's Committee, the road through the area runs about 30 km but has hundreds of damaged points, with a very high safety risk. However, the road is under the management of the Road Administration (Ministry of Construction). Local authorities will continue to urge the relevant agencies to inspect promptly and implement solutions to ensure safety for residents. A representative of Road Management Zone III (Vietnam Road Administration) said that after major storms, especially historic rainfall, the damage on the Ho Chi Minh Highway has become more severe. Some heavily damaged sections, not passable normally, have been included in the project list for repair. However, progress is hampered by material shortages and price fluctuations. For lighter damaged positions, the unit has classified them into three priority groups for gradual repair. Resource constraints mean not all damaged points can be addressed at the same time.
