Authorities and telecom operators say citizens can proactively check whether their registered mobile phone number is correctly registered and verified by sending a free SMS to 1414. The service applies to all mobile networks.
Citizens should compose a text message using the format “TTTB” followed by their citizen identification number or the 9-digit CMND number, then send it to 1414.
After the message is sent, the system replies with basic information, including the full name, date of birth, ID document number, and the list of phone numbers registered under that document.
If the returned details match the information on the chip-enabled citizen ID, users can conclude that the SIM is registered to the correct owner.
If the displayed information is incorrect, or if the number remains linked to the old 9-digit citizen ID, citizens are advised to contact their mobile operator to update the records.
In addition to SMS, citizens can monitor SIM information in the VNeID app. Under the rollout plan, from April 15 the system will send notices to users in batches rather than all at once, due to the large volume of numbers to process.
To check on VNeID, users should open the app, go to the Documents Wallet, select Phone Numbers, and verify using a passcode or biometric authentication such as fingerprint or facial recognition. The system then displays the list of integrated phone numbers.
Representatives of mobile operators said there will be separate arrangements for subscribers who do not use smartphones or do not have a VNeID account. These cases will be classified to provide appropriate support, including direct assistance if needed.
Officials say proactively checking early helps people determine whether their numbers need updating, reducing the need to visit service centers and the waiting times during the new implementation phase.
