Vietjet has appointed two new members to its board of directors, effective 24 April 2026, as part of leadership changes for the 2022–2027 term.
Mr. Khuat Viet Hung, former Chairman of the Hanoi Metro Members' Council, has been appointed as a member of Vietjet’s board of directors. In the same move, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son was also appointed to the board.
The term of the new board members runs from 2022 to 2027, with the appointments taking effect from 24 April 2026.
Earlier, Mr. Khuat Viet Hung was approved by the Hanoi People’s Committee to resign as Chairman of the Hanoi Metro Members' Council, resigning by personal will from 15 April.
Vietjet also announced internal leadership changes. Mr. Dinh Viet Phuong, a board member, was elected to serve as First Vice Chairman of the Board for the 2022–2027 term.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Son, a board member, will assume the position of Vietjet’s Chief Executive Officer, replacing Mr. Dinh Viet Phuong, effective from 29 April 2026.
In 2025, Vietjet reported positive business results: 135 aircraft operating 254 routes, transporting 28.2 million passengers over more than 153,000 flights. The airline recorded revenue of 82,093 billion VND and net profit of 2,123 billion VND, up 51.2% and reaching 120% of plan, respectively. Vietjet also contributed 10,537 billion VND to the state budget.
Vietjet’s fleet expansion included large aircraft orders such as 100 Airbus A321neo (with 50 options) and 20 Airbus A330neo.
In Q1 2026, Vietjet continued to grow. Consolidated revenue reached 21,021 billion VND (up 17.1% year-on-year), pre-tax profit was 1,142 billion VND (up 36.5%), and net profit was 1,023 billion VND (up 59.6%).
At the parent company level, revenue was 19,473 billion VND (up 8.7%), pre-tax profit 1,020 billion VND (up 24.5%), and net profit 922 billion VND (up 47%).
As of 31 March 2026, Vietjet’s total assets were 143,534 billion VND. The net debt-to-equity ratio stood at 2.1x and the liquidity ratio at 1.5x, remaining within the industry’s safety range. In Q1, the airline contributed 1,941 billion VND to the state budget.
Looking ahead, Vietjet plans to expand international routes to Europe and the United States and to add aircraft including Airbus A321neo, A330neo and Boeing 737-8.
The airline also plans to continue investing in maintenance facilities at Long Thành, pursue aviation finance activities and workforce training. Vietjet said it will maintain cost controls, apply technology in operations, and develop more services to improve operating efficiency.
