Many enterprises are planning to rename in 2026, reflecting a broader trend to adjust branding and development direction in the new phase.
Dat Xanh Group (MCK: DXG, HoSE) held its 2026 annual general meeting on 17 April 2026, where shareholders approved a proposal to change the company’s name.
Under the approved proposal, the AGM authorized the board to study and select the company’s new name, ensuring it aligns with the group’s business strategy and complies with applicable laws.
According to the board, the name change is intended to reposition the brand to match Dat Xanh Group’s development direction in the new stage. The company said the change will also support connections, transactions, market expansion, and the search for investment opportunities in a sustainable manner.
Bình Sơn Refinery and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (MCK: BSR, HoSE) held its 2026 AGM on 13 April 2026. Shareholders approved a plan to rename the company from Bình Sơn Refinery and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company to the Joint Stock Company - Vietnam National Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation.
The company linked the move to its 2030 development strategy and 2050 vision, under which the overall development objective includes building and developing into a “Total Corporation.”
Bình Sơn described itself as a core unit in refining and petrochemicals. It said renaming toward a “Total Corporation” structure is intended to align with its strategic orientation, raise the organization’s profile, and reposition its role in the oil and gas value chain.
The company also noted that, in practice, firms in essential industries that expand scale or seek to assert leadership often adjust their names to reflect their stature, including using the term “Total Corporation” to increase visibility and align with leadership within the corporate ecosystem. It added that the name change can facilitate international cooperation and access to capital markets.
Beyond Dat Xanh Group and Bình Sơn, Gemadept (MCK: GMD, HoSE) will present to shareholders at its AGM scheduled for 6 May 2026 a plan to change the company’s name from Gemadept to Gemadept Group.
Gemadept said the change aims to align with its new development direction, scale, and business strategy, while also ensuring consistency of its trading name, brand identity, and governance in the new phase.
