Mercedes-Benz is recalling 24,092 vehicles released between 2018 and 2020 due to an issue involving the drive shaft universal joint, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.
According to NHTSA documents, a broken drive shaft universal joint can lead to a loss of power. The agency said this can increase the risk of a car crash.
The recall covers various Mercedes models from the 2018 to 2020 production range. The documents estimate that the defect affects 100% of the vehicles included in the recall.
Dealers will be notified and instructed to inspect the drive shaft universal joint. Mercedes-Benz is also sending notification letters to vehicle owners who may be affected by the recall by June 2, 2026, according to the NHTSA.
Mercedes-Benz representatives did not immediately respond to FOX Business’s request for comment.
