According to the Hanoi Employment Service Center (under the Department of Internal Affairs), the employment picture in May in Hanoi is expected to remain vibrant, but with differentiation and stricter requirements on the quality of the workforce.
The services - tourism group is expected to see a surge in recruitment, but priority will be given to personnel with communication skills and foreign languages.
As the tourism sector officially enters its acceleration phase for the summer peak, the commerce, hospitality, accommodation, food service and travel sectors will continue to lead hiring demand.
However, rather than mass recruitment, companies will prioritize staff with strong communication skills, foreign languages, and the ability to handle situations flexibly to improve service quality.
Meanwhile, the manufacturing sector will shift away from low-skilled labor, increasing recruitment of automation technicians and supply chain personnel. The partial relocation of production lines to neighboring provinces of some large enterprises indicates the domestic market will gradually reduce demand for simple unskilled labor.
In contrast, to maintain export advantages in high-tech sectors (electronics, components, equipment), firms are seeking technicians with automation operation skills, the ability to read production data, and supply chain staff capable of sourcing substitutes, and risk management.
In particular, workers with multitasking skills and knowledge of AI/technology will hold a superior competitive edge. In the context of Hanoi's enterprises tightening governance to cope with fluctuating input costs, workers with multitasking skills who know how to apply technology tools and AI to optimize order management and warehouse operations will hold a superior edge in the labor market.
In May, one of Hanoi's key tasks is to assist businesses quickly stabilize personnel and materials to support production and
business.
Together with this, the city is actively addressing bottlenecks in administrative procedures, promoting disbursement of public investment and expanding market consumption. Along with the pace of Hanoi's economy, the linkage of labor supply and demand, job creation and social welfare requires greater initiative, flexibility and timeliness.
To realize this goal, the Hanoi Employment Service Center has been strengthening counseling, vocational training, and connect supply-demand to introduce jobs to workers, especially to those who are unemployed.

In addition, the Center advised and supported job search for over 2,500 workers, including training for 105 people, amounting to 428 million VND.
During the month, the entire city of Hanoi supported job creation for about 18.5 thousand workers through loans, labor export and job-matching sessions.
The Hanoi Employment Service Center organized 23 job matching sessions. 431 employers participated in recruitment with a total of 8,725 vacancies. 1,294 job seekers were interviewed at these sessions, resulting in 570 job seekers submitting applications and being recruited through these sessions.
Additionally, the Center strengthened career guidance and vocational training for unemployed workers; organized counseling and job-matching activities on the city’s job exchange system... thereby supporting job creation and the supply of labor for enterprises.
The collection of labor market information across communes/wards will be expanded in the near future, gradually improving the quality of data collected and the labor market database of job seekers and employers, contributing to standardizing data on the city’s labor market.
