On March 23, 2026, in Paris, Nam A Bank (Nam A Bank – HOSE: NAB) and Proparco, the development finance institution of the French Development Agency (AFD), officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop and mobilize green finance resources. The event marks a strategic milestone in Nam A Bank’s internationalization of sustainable funding. It was part of the senior leadership team’s visit to Europe aimed at “greenizing” business activities and expanding a network of international financial institution partners. The signing centers on promoting and mobilizing green and sustainable finance resources, with a focus on the Green Finance Community proposed by Nam A Bank at the Vietnam International Finance Center (VIFC) in Ho Chi Minh City. This collaboration with a major financial institution like Proparco is expected to share international resources and create synergies to realize VIFC’s goals, making Ho Chi Minh City an attractive destination for green capital and sustainable development in Vietnam. In addition, Proparco is evaluating providing Nam A Bank with a
USD 30 million loan over five years to finance the bank’s green credit portfolio. The loan’s objective aligns with Nam A Bank’s long-term green strategy. Proparco has conducted KYC, carried out a comprehensive assessment, and performed direct due diligence at Nam A Bank. A Proparco representative praised Nam A Bank’s stable growth and its integration of Environmental & Social (E&S) standards as a foundation for deeper cooperation. Nam A Bank’s representative noted that the MoU signing is not only a signal of confidence from an international development finance institution but also a significant step in advancing the bank’s operational standards. The partnership with Proparco would help Nam A Bank expand green financing and enable Vietnamese enterprises to access ample funding at favorable costs, supporting Vietnam’s competitiveness on the global stage. Proparco is a French development finance institution founded in 1977 and a member of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), providing funding and financial support to private sector projects in developing and emerging markets. By the end of 2025, Proparco had total assets around EUR 9.1 billion, with lending and investment portfolios around EUR 8.4 billion and a network of more than 25 international offices. Through this MoU, Nam A Bank continues to align with its sustainable development strategy, pursuing the two pillars “Digitization and Green transformation,” and aims to make green finance a cornerstone of its activities to enable Vietnamese businesses to access financing with optimized costs. This is a key milestone for Vietnam to strengthen its competitiveness on the global economic map.
