During the Hung Kings' public holiday and the April 30 – May 1 holiday, passenger traffic through airports rose sharply, concentrated at the country’s three largest airports: Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, and Da Nang. More than 1.7 million air travelers chose to travel by air during the long holiday period. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) reported on air transport during the Hung Kings holiday and the April 30 – May 1 break (April 25–27 and April 30–May 3). Air transport reached nearly 1.7 million passengers, up over 2% and more than 27 thousand tonnes of cargo, up over 7% versus the same period last year. Domestic transport accounted for over 675 thousand passengers and over 3 thousand tonnes of cargo; international transport exceeded 1 million passengers and over 24 thousand tonnes of cargo. Total airport operations reached nearly 15 thousand takeoffs and landings; over 2 million passengers and nearly 31 thousand tonnes of cargo passed through the airports. Tan Son Nhat International Airport posted the highest throughput among airports, recording 4,903 takeoffs and landings; over 818 thousand passengers and more than 10 thousand tonnes of cargo. Noi Bai International Airport handled 4,347 takeoffs and landings; over 702 thousand passengers and over 19 thousand tonnes of cargo passed through the airport. Da Nang International Airport operated 2,073 takeoffs and landings; over 341 thousand passengers and nearly 589 tonnes of cargo. Notably, Vietnamese airlines carried more than 1 million passengers and nearly 8 thousand tonnes of cargo. Domestic transport accounted for over 675 thousand passengers and more than 3 thousand tonnes of cargo; international transport exceeded 356 thousand passengers and over 4 thousand tonnes. CAAV said air transport operations during the Hung Kings holiday and the April 30 – May 1 period took place safely, with service quality maintained and ensured. In particular, on-time performance was above 80% across the holiday days. Nearly 118,000 passengers arrived at Noi Bai on the last day of the holiday. According to Noi Bai International Airport, on the final day of the holiday (May 3), Noi Bai handled 728 flight movements. Total passengers reached a record 117,853. Domestic flights carried 70,160 passengers across 408 flights; inbound domestic travelers to the capital totaled 36,530. International flights remained high with more than 320 movements and 47,693 passengers. Despite the record passenger numbers, Noi Bai Airport maximized efficiency by distributing flights across the day's peak periods. There were seven outbound peak hours and six inbound peak hours, with very high passenger density, averaging more than 2,000 passengers per peak hour. A Noi Bai International Airport representative said that by proactively applying the airport-wide decision-making coordination model (A-CDM) and by flexibly coordinating check-in counters, apron gates, security checks, and baggage claim areas, there were no local bottlenecks.
