Noi Bai International Airport said that, based on airline schedules, the number of flights and passengers during the peak travel period of the 30/4–1/5 holiday is expected to rise by about 10–15% compared with the regular flight schedule.
The airport expects the busiest day to be 29 April 2026, when it is projected to handle 652 flight movements. This would be up 9.4% from normal operations and higher than the same period in 2025.
Passenger numbers are expected to reach about 113,631, up 15% versus the regular schedule and up 12.4% year-on-year.
International transport is expected to account for 323 flights and 52,102 passengers, up 7.3% and 12.3% respectively compared with normal levels, and also higher than the same period in 2025.
For domestic transport, projected traffic is 329 flights and 61,529 passengers, up 11.5% and 17.3% respectively compared with the regular schedule.
Noi Bai International Airport leadership said that while the aviation market is affected by fluctuations in fuel prices and supply, operating volumes continue to rise, supported by network expansion and increased frequency of international carriers.
To serve the peak period, the airport has implemented coordinated operational measures, including maintaining up to 98 check-in counters at Terminal 1 and 144 counters at Terminal 2, with 48 new counters added from the expansion project.
The airport also said its baggage handling system is prepared, including 16 conveyors and 122 aircraft stands.
The airport reported strengthened coordination with relevant authorities to ensure security and order, manage traffic flow, maximize screening capacity, and implement automated tolling at entry/exit lanes to reduce congestion.
From 29 April to 4 May 2026, Noi Bai International Airport will apply Level 1 aviation security control, which may lengthen check-in procedures compared with normal days.
The airport advised passengers to check in online or use biometrics via VNeID, and to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before domestic departures and 3 hours before international flights.
