PV GAS has signed LNG regasification supply agreements with Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and PV Power for multiple large-scale gas-fired power projects. On April 4, PV GAS announced that it and EVN and PV Power signed key agreements to supply LNG regasified gas for several power plants.
The first component is a framework agreement between PV GAS and EVN to supply LNG regasified from the Vung Ang LNG Terminal to the Quảng Trạch II and III thermal plants. Gas supply under the agreement is expected to begin by April 30, 2029.
The second component is an addendum to the LNG sale and purchase contract between PV GAS and PV Power to serve the Nhơn Trạch 3 and 4 power plants.
PV GAS said the agreements are being pursued in the context of reduced domestic gas supply and volatile global energy markets. The company is working to strengthen its role as a central LNG hub across the value chain, from sourcing LNG to inland storage, regasification, and distribution to power plants.
In central Vietnam, PV GAS is developing the North-Central LNG Terminal project in the Vung Ang – Ha Tinh area. The terminal is planned with Phase 1 capacity of 1–3 million tonnes per year, with total investment of about 26.7 trillion VND. The project is set to cover more than 53 hectares of land and 426 hectares of water surface, and is planned to operate in 2029–2030.
In Southeast Vietnam, the LNG supply chain continues to expand with Nhơn Trạch 3 and 4, described as the country’s first LNG-fired power complex.
PV GAS has also signed a long-term LNG supply contract of 25 years with PV Power, aimed at ensuring stable fuel supply for the Nhơn Trạch 3 and 4 plants.
PV GAS said the simultaneous signings with EVN and PV Power are intended not only to meet fuel demand for the specified projects but also to help shape Vietnam’s LNG market. The collaboration within the PetroVietnam group is expected to support energy security and a longer-term shift toward cleaner energy.
