Many mobile subscribers are receiving messages requesting verification and updates to subscriber information. With Circular 08 taking effect from April 15, 2026, ignoring these notices and failing to complete verification can result in the SIM being locked, and in some cases revoked after the prescribed period.
According to the operators, the SMS sent to subscribers warns that the information “may not be accurate” and requires users to verify again via the official app or at a transaction point. Viettel has issued SMS notices in formats including: the subscriber’s data has been confirmed as not matching the registered information, and the subscriber will be blocked from receiving calls and SMS dated 01/05/2026 if the information is not updated correctly under Circular 08/2026/TT-BKHCN.
Under the effective date of Circular 08/2026/TT-BKHCN (April 15, 2026), users have 15 days after the operator’s notice to update and verify information. As a result, the first group of customers faces SIM lock risk on May 1, 2026.
To confirm whether subscriber information is accurate, users can text TTT B Số CCCD or CMND to 1414 to cross-check. If there are differences, users should follow verification procedures via the VNeID app, My Viettel, or at Viettel stores.
Operators list several potential consequences for users who do not verify their SIM information:
Viettel outlines the following process to verify and standardize subscriber information through the MyViettel app:
The verification process is intended to align SIM data with official identity documents and ensure compliance with the new directive. Additional guidance is available through operator channels.
