Sacombank is honored to be among the first banks to partner with Napas (Vietnam's National Payment Corporation) to participate in VIETQRGlobal, the cross-border QR payment solution between Vietnam and China. The service marks a new milestone in Sacombank's push to expand digital payments across Asia. VIETQRGlobal is designed to serve the payment needs of travelers and residents moving, spending, and transacting across borders. In this cross-border retail QR payment project between Vietnam and China, the parties have jointly deployed modern infrastructure and are gradually connecting each other's digital payment ecosystems in a synchronized, secure manner that complies with international standards. It provides users in both countries with a fast and convenient cross-border payment method, meeting rising demand as trade, tourism, and cooperation between Vietnam and China continue to grow. VIETQRGlobal was chosen as the official name, reflecting national pride while ensuring easy recognition by visitors at QR payment acceptance points. Beyond convenience, the solution enhances security, reduces processing time, and improves automatic settlement among participants. Sacombank's participation as a pioneer demonstrates readiness of technology infrastructure and long-term strategy to promote cross-border digital payments. In the initial phase, the service will be deployed in the 'Vietnam inbound' direction. Chinese visitors to Vietnam will be able to use the Alipay wallet to scan the VIETQRGlobal code and pay at a wide network of acceptance points, including malls, shopping centers, tourist sites, and restaurants. This also opens business opportunities for millions of retailers, small businesses, and Vietnamese enterprises given the large Alipay user base from China. In 2026, Sacombank and Napas will complete the reverse connection 'Vietnam outbound'. Then Sacombank/NAPAS cardholders integrating their cards into SACOMBANK PAY will be able to scan QR codes to pay at network partners in China without currency exchange or cash, delivering a seamless, convenient, and cost-saving payment experience. A Sacombank representative said: 'We will coordinate closely with Napas to evaluate and finalize two-way payments with China as soon as possible. Sacombank is already a pioneer in implementing VIETQRGlobal with Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos, and continues to study expanding to other potential markets such as Korea and Singapore, gradually improving and expanding Vietnam's cross-border payment infrastructure.' With its modern tech platform and wide network, Sacombank expects VIETQRGlobal to rapidly reach retail stores, eateries, coffee shops, and other service points nationwide, helping promote cashless payments and spur trade and tourism between Vietnam and partner countries.
