Saigon Jewelry Joint Stock Company (SJC) said it will temporarily suspend online registration to buy gold from April 6 to facilitate system adjustments and upgrades and to ensure service quality in the coming period.
During this period, customers who want to buy bullion will conduct transactions directly at stores within the SJC network. The company will also change its sales method by no longer issuing queue numbers as before. When a customer visits, SJC will sell based on the actual stock available on hand.
The daily sale limit applies to each customer, with a maximum of 1 tael of bullion and 1 chi of ring gold. The amount of gold supplied on the day depends on available inventory, including gold that customers resell to the company.
SJC’s decision comes as demand for gold rises while supply is sometimes tight, making in-store purchases difficult.
Previously, SJC repeatedly warned customers about fake websites and fan pages impersonating the company to defraud people through online registration for gold purchases. Some cases involved customers transferring money after following instructions from the impersonators, resulting in customers losing their assets.
SJC emphasized that it does not require customers to transfer money in advance and does not collect deposits in any form. The company stated that all gold trading is conducted directly at official SJC locations.
Other gold-trading companies have also issued warnings about scams on social networks. SJC noted that companies such as Phú Quý have warned that perpetrators exploit rising demand for gold by creating fake fan pages and websites under the brand name to fraudulently take customers’ money. The companies advise the public to trade only through official store networks and not to transfer money before receiving gold.
