On May 3, 2026, in Hanoi, the State Bank of Vietnam held the launching ceremony for the online running event “75 Years of the State Bank of Vietnam” to mark the 75th anniversary of its establishment (May 6, 1951 – May 6, 2026). The event took place in a festive atmosphere and brought together senior officials, alongside a series of activities aimed at celebrating the milestone and promoting health, unity, and social responsibility across the banking sector.
The race is organized entirely online. Participants will use the Strava app to record their outdoor running or walking results. The data will be automatically synchronized to the system and displayed on real-time leaderboards. Runners can choose their own time and location, with results recorded through technology to support transparency and accuracy, connecting participants nationwide.
The event features several distances with historical and commemorative meanings:
Organizers described each distance as more than a physical challenge, framing it as a historical emblem of the sector’s development and its commitment to future milestones.
Athletes’ running results will be converted into funds of up to 7.5 billion VND to support social welfare activities. The organizers said the race highlights the link between physical fitness and community responsibility, emphasizing the banking sector’s role in supporting social programs, outreach to underserved areas, and assistance to people in need, contributing to poverty reduction.
Registrations opened on the event website https://giaichaynhvn.vrun.vn/ on April 28, 2026. As of the period leading up to the ceremony, 51,000 staff from 51 banking units had registered to participate, reflecting solidarity across the sector and symbolizing 1951, the year the State Bank of Vietnam was established.
“Just before the launching ceremony, at 20:47 on May 2, 2026, there were 51,000 registered athletes from 51 teams,” said Nguyen Dinh Vinh.
Organizers said they will award many attractive prizes to proactive participants who achieve high performance in the online running event. Photos from the launching ceremony show participants and officials in attendance.
