A survey titled “A panorama of the two-wheeled market in Asia-Pacific: Leading trends and rider behavior,” conducted by Point Consulting for HERE Technologies, gathered responses from more than 2,400 participants across six countries: China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam. In Vietnam, 400 participants were surveyed.
The study describes two-wheelers in the region as more than transportation, noting their role as a livelihood tool. It finds Vietnam among the markets with the highest dependence on two-wheeler use in Asia-Pacific. In Vietnam, 32% of respondents said they rely on motorcycles as an essential tool to work and generate income—more than twice the regional average.
It also reports that 95% of motorcycle riders in Vietnam travel daily.
According to the survey, navigation apps have moved beyond basic directions to become operational assistants aimed at optimizing time, improving efficiency and supporting safety. Among features rated most valuable, 62% of respondents cited route optimization as the key benefit.
Real-time traffic adaptability is a priority for riders. The survey reports that 51% value automatic re-routing based on real-time traffic data, while 21% are interested in detour alerts suitable for two-wheelers.
Voice guidance is also highlighted as important for safer driving. The survey states that 66% use voice navigation per leg, and 60% consider it essential to maintain focus while moving.
Safety issues remain prominent for two-wheeler riders in Vietnam. The survey reports that 67% feel unsafe due to potholes or road deterioration, while 66% report increased stress when moving near larger vehicles.
The study says drivers in technology and delivery segments are the group most dependent on navigation in Vietnam. It links navigation quality to productivity, delivery times and customer satisfaction.
Common difficulties reported include delays in route updates, inaccurate ETAs, and difficulty predicting traffic risks on crowded or poorly maintained roads.
The survey suggests that as urban delivery demand increases, navigation is becoming an essential infrastructure for Vietnam’s tech drivers. It frames navigation as a way to reduce risk, maintain performance and support stable income.
Munish Kumar Verma, Head of Automobile Region Southeast Asia at HERE Technologies, said: “Drivers in Vietnam operate in one of the most congested and rapidly changing traffic environments in Asia. Navigation helps reduce uncertainty, support stable income, and get drivers to their destinations.”
HERE Technologies also stated that in Vietnam motorcycles are closely tied to the daily livelihoods of millions, adding that real-time and reliable navigation solutions are increasingly essential to help users move safely, maintain work efficiency and ensure a stable income.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
