Seoul, Korea – On March 25, Sun PhuQuoc Airways, the airline of Sun Group, held a conference titled “Phu Quoc - Your Ultimate Escape” and announced the establishment of a General Sales Agent (GSA) in Korea, with nearly 100 guests from leading travel agencies in attendance. During the event, Sun PhuQuoc Airways announced the launch of a direct Seoul (ICN) – Phu Quoc (PQC) route, scheduled to begin on April 17, 2026 with a daily frequency of one flight, rising to two daily flights in a subsequent phase. This international route is a key link connecting Phu Quoc with Northeast Asia. Following Seoul, the airline plans to operate the Busan – Phu Quoc route from June 2026, gradually completing a direct connection between the island and Korea’s two major economic and tourism hubs. The Korean GSA is Pacific Air Agency (PAA Group), a leading entity with more than 36 years of experience in selling, marketing and distributing passenger and cargo aviation services. Through this partnership, the airline expects to rapidly expand its distribution network, access local sales channels, and accelerate market uptake from the outset. The network of agencies and partners will play a central role in the company’s international development strategy. The Seoul conference not only introduced the network but also shared cooperation directions, sales policies, and integrated product packages, helping partners build flexible ecosystem travel offerings, increasing value for travelers and optimizing business results. With Sun Group’s integrated tourism, hospitality and entertainment ecosystem, Korean passengers flying with Sun PhuQuoc Airways will enjoy up to 30% discounts on accommodation, dining, spa and entertainment in Phu Quoc through the end of June 2026. In addition, guests will receive Sun World Hon Thom cable car tickets valid through June 2026, delivering a complete experience on the southern island. Vietnam remains a top destination for Korean travelers, with Phu Quoc emerging as a destination of particular interest. In 2025 Phu Quoc welcomed over 556,000 Korean visitors, up 18% from 2024. By late 2025, direct flights from Korea to Phu Quoc had reached record levels, with major carriers such as Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, and low-cost Jeju Air and Jin Air increasing service to the island. The direct route helps shorten travel time and costs, reinforcing Phu Quoc’s status as a premier international resort destination with 30-day visa exemption and a complete tourism ecosystem. Sun PhuQuoc Airways, the first Vietnamese airline named after an island, is invested and developed by Sun Group with a hub-and-spoke model centered on Phu Quoc, aiming to connect international markets directly with the island. On February 18, 2026 in Washington D.C. (USA), Sun PhuQuoc Airways signed a contract to purchase 40 wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, valued at USD 22.5 billion, marking the largest wide-body order in Vietnam’s aviation history. Despite being a newcomer, the airline has quickly built a fleet of 10 modern aircraft and has consistently ranked among the leaders in on-time performance (OTP).
