VeChain has unveiled a set of updates for 2026 focused on artificial intelligence, open-source development and ecosystem expansion. The company said it released VeBetterDAO as open source, making its full stack available in a single GitHub repository so developers can review, improve and extend the platform without depending on closed internal updates.
VeChain said the VeBetterDAO ecosystem already includes more than 5.3 million users, over 50 active applications and more than 50 million verified sustainable actions.
On network activity, VeChain reported 14.8 million wallets across its ecosystem. It also cited 1,839 new wallets registered in a single day and a burn of 319,971 VTHO, which the company said reflects sustained activity on VeChainThor.
VeChain also highlighted StarGate, its network staking system, which holds approximately 14.1 billion VET tokens locked. The company described this as part of the transition from the Proof of Authority model to public Delegated Proof of Stake.
VeChain’s Interstellar upgrade is designed to add EVM compatibility with the Cancun, Prague, Fusaka and Glamsterdam standards. The company also said the upgrade includes JSON-RPC support, enabling tools such as Hardhat, Foundry, MetaMask and Ethers.js to be used directly on VeChainThor.
Artificial intelligence agents are positioned as a core element of the 2026 roadmap. VeChain said it plans to integrate the Model Context Protocol so these agents can read on-chain data, query smart contracts and initiate transactions within limits set by their operators.
