On the morning of April 13, 2026, Prime Minister Lê Minh Hung of Vietnam and Prime Minister Robert Fico of Slovakia held talks at the Government Office in Hanoi and witnessed the signing of six cooperation documents between the two countries.
The documents signed covered cooperation across defense, foreign affairs, culture, local development, standards and quality, and nuclear energy, including:
Prime Ministers Lê Minh Hung and Robert Fico also discussed measures to advance the strategic partnership and agreed to promptly develop an Action Plan to implement the partnership framework, with the aim of creating substantive benefits for the people and businesses of both countries.
During the visit, the two sides signed or exchanged 16 cooperation documents across areas including politics-diplomacy, defense, culture, nuclear energy, standards, local cooperation, security, health, tourism, and shipbuilding.
Prime Minister Lê Minh Hung expressed appreciation for Slovakia’s recognition of the Vietnamese community as the 14th ethnic minority, saying it provides a solid legal basis for Vietnamese people to integrate and strengthen friendship ties.
Prime Minister Robert Fico said Vietnam-Slovakia relations are developing well and are benefiting from mutual interests. He stressed the need to elevate economic and trade cooperation to reflect the strategic partnership and to potentially upgrade Vietnam-Slovakia relations within the broader Vietnam–EU framework.
Slovakia also invited the Vietnamese Prime Minister to visit Slovakia and pledged support for enhanced business cooperation, investment, and people-to-people exchanges.
The two leaders affirmed their willingness to cooperate in priority areas such as nuclear energy, defense industry, finance, education and training, and to deepen ties for the benefit of both nations and regional and global peace and development.
