Vietnam's Ambassador to Slovakia, Pham Truong Giang, said that the official visit to Vietnam by Prime Minister Robert Fico has refreshed bilateral relations, elevated political trust and opened a new chapter of deeper cooperation between the two countries. Prime Ministers Le Minh Hung and Robert Fico approved a joint declaration upgrading Vietnam–Slovakia relations to a Strategic Partnership. The ambassador noted that the visit, though short, was substantive, focusing on reinforcing political trust at the highest level and advancing concrete cooperation agreements, laying a foundation for deeper cooperation in the future. Ambassador Pham Truong Giang stressed that the Vietnam–Slovakia relationship is not only based on a history of friendship but is being renewed with a practical, effective approach across many fields. The leaders shared many views in agreement on bilateral cooperation as well as at regional and international forums. During the talks and high-level exchanges in Vietnam, Prime Minister Robert Fico repeatedly expressed a spirit of friendship and determination to advance bilateral relations, stressing that Slovakia came to Vietnam as a sincere friend and left with a stronger friendship. During the visit, the two sides signed six cooperation documents in politics–diplomacy, defense, culture, nuclear energy, metrology and quality standards, and local cooperation; and signed more than ten agreements between enterprises in energy, healthcare, tourism, manufacturing and industrial park infrastructure. The two foreign ministries were tasked with coordinating a plan of action to effectively implement the agreed content. Two Vietnam–Slovakia business forums were held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with broad participation from the business communities of both countries, aiming to tap the development potential as the two economies are complementary rather than directly competitive and participate in regional and global value chains. At the Vietnam–Slovakia Business Forum in Hanoi, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung emphasized that the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in processing and manufacturing, high technology, energy efficiency and green transformation; to make full use of the EVFTA to connect supply chains and logistics; and to promote cooperation in innovation, digital transformation, education and high-quality human resources. Ambassador Pham Truong Giang said that with the Strategic Partnership framework just established, together with political trust and active participation of the Vietnamese community in Slovakia, the Vietnam–Slovakia relationship has favorable conditions to develop deeply, substantively, and effectively in the time ahead.
