Representatives of Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) met with the Standing Committee of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee at the provincial party headquarters to discuss plans to explore coal and expand business operations in Bac Ninh.
At the meeting, TKV’s representatives reported plans to explore the Bao Dai 2 and Bao Dai 3 mines, as well as the northern area of the Vang Danh mine.
The projects are included in the list of important investments prioritized under the National Energy Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister. Specifically, the Bao Dai 2 mine exploration project is scheduled for 2021-2030, while Bao Dai 3 and the northern area of the Vang Danh mine are planned for 2031-2050.
TKV said it is urgently preparing an assessment plan on the level of impact on protected areas. The assessment is expected to be completed before June 30, 2026 for submission to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for review.
After exploration, TKV stated it will return forest land to the locality and apply modern underground mining technology, aiming to ensure no impact on forest surface and the surrounding landscape.
TKV proposed that the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Bac Ninh People’s Committee agree on reporting to the Government and relevant ministries, and support procedures for converting forest land use or temporarily using forest land to serve drilling operations.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Thai, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee, urged relevant departments to coordinate with TKV promptly and provide maximum support. He also directed the two sides to establish a joint working group to coordinate surveying and the preparation of reports for competent authorities.
Earlier the same morning, Mr. Ngo Hoang Ngan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Members’ Council of TKV, along with a working delegation, visited the Son Dong Thermal Power Plant to check production.
During the visit, leadership inspected the plant’s operating area, yard, environmental protection measures, and the scope of expanding production and business activities.
