The Vietnam International Travel Fair (VITM Hanoi 2026) opened at the Hanoi International Exhibition Center (ICE) on April 10, under the theme “Digital transformation and green growth – elevating Vietnam’s tourism.” The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong; Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh; Director General of International Cooperation Nguyen Phuong Hoa; Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association Vu The Binh; and Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai Province People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich, along with representatives from central and local agencies, diplomatic missions, travel firms and media.
In his remarks, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong said that in 2025, despite numerous difficulties, Vietnam made significant efforts and basically achieved its socio-economic development targets. He highlighted tourism as a “bright spot,” citing 21.5 million international visitors, 135.5 million domestic visitors, and total tourism revenue exceeding one quadrillion dong. He said these results reflect Vietnam’s appeal as a destination and underscore tourism’s role in driving growth, creating jobs, and promoting cultural values and the country’s image.
With the theme “Digital transformation, green growth – elevating Vietnam’s tourism,” VITM 2026 aligns with global trends and Vietnam’s development strategy, while promoting stimulus activities, building new products, and improving the quality of human resources. Deputy Minister Phong said the fair’s program offers opportunities for localities, destinations, and domestic and international travel companies to meet, strengthen partnerships, conduct business exchanges, and promote growth in a green and sustainable tourism sector.

According to Cao Thi Ngoc Lan, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Tourism Association, after 14 editions VITM has developed into a branded national-and-international travel event. She said it attracts more travel promotion organizations and tourism firms from within Vietnam and abroad, helping raise the industry’s profile.
This year’s fair brings together 31 Vietnamese provinces and cities and 20 countries and territories, with nearly 400 booths from more than 600 organizations and enterprises, including about 15% international exhibitors. Organizers expect the event to welcome more than 80,000 visitors.
The fair is set to feature programs including discounted airfare, hotel and resort promotions, and OCOP (One Commune-One Product) offerings for domestic travelers.
As a nationally scaled travel event organized by the Vietnam Travel Association, VITM Hanoi 2026 is positioned as a strategic industry meeting point. Organizers said the theme reflects a shift from expanding scale to deepening development, anchored in technology and sustainability.
Additional feature discussions include opportunities for summer-tour promotions, localities’ flexible measures to stimulate summer tourism, and AI-enabled solutions aimed at accelerating Vietnam’s tourism sector.
