Asia Ingredient Group (AIG) has officially broken ground on the ACP2 Coconut Processing Plant in Vĩnh Long province, with total investment of nearly VND 630 billion. The project covers nearly 60,000 square meters in the Long Phước Industrial Park and represents the group’s expansion after more than a decade operating its first coconut processing plant.
At the ground-breaking ceremony, Nguyen Truc Son, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Vĩnh Long, said the province has more than 120,000 hectares of coconuts, accounting for over 50% of Vietnam’s coconut area. He added that by 2030 Vĩnh Long plans to expand to about 132,000 hectares, positioning the region as a major advantage for developing deep-processing coconut industries and increasing value across the coconut value chain.
Mr. Son also stated that ACP2 is expected to begin operations in Q1 2027, with production lines imported directly from Europe.
The plant’s production architecture includes:
Frederick Cruchet, Chief Executive Officer of Project Management at Tetra Pak Southeast Asia, said the ceremony marks a significant step in the ACP–Tetra Pak collaboration. He noted that the partnership began with packaging solutions at the first plant and has expanded into a comprehensive, integrated role covering processing to packaging for the ACP2 project.
The ACP project’s technology is also described as enabling products to meet standards required by Costco in the United States under the Kirkland Signature brand.
The ACP project includes ESG and emissions management commitments in collaboration with the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC). Pham Hoang Van, Project Lead at IFC, said the event is meaningful not only for building a modern coconut processing plant in Vietnam, but also for launching a sustainable agricultural development model with international competitiveness.
IFC will support AIG in three areas: developing a Net Zero roadmap for the coconut value chain, strengthening environmental and social governance to international standards, and building a sustainable procurement framework intended to unlock future carbon-credit market opportunities.
Vice Chairman Nguyen Truc Son reaffirmed the province’s continued support, saying Vĩnh Long will facilitate investment and administrative procedures and help address obstacles during implementation. He added that the investor will focus resources to complete the project on schedule, ensure quality and safety, and comply with environmental requirements.
The ACP2 expansion is expected to leverage a large-scale raw material base alongside advanced processing, helping raise the value of Vietnamese agricultural products in the global supply chain.
