Prices for airline tickets during the peak travel period from 29/4 to 3/5 have risen sharply on major routes, according to a survey of airline ticketing systems. Many flights departing from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc, Nha Trang and Da Nang are sold out for preferred departure times, leaving mainly premium economy or connecting options.
For Hanoi–Nha Trang round trips, fares are around 7.4 million VND on Vietnam Airlines and 7.2 million VND on Vietjet Air.
On Hanoi–Phu Quoc for 30/4, availability is tight. Vietnam Airlines has sold out economy on the direct flight, with only connecting options from around 5 million VND. Vietjet Air has very few seats from 4.2 million VND, while Sun PhuQuoc Airways offers only connecting-seat options from 4.6 million VND.
For return travel on 3/5, many Phu Quoc–Hanoi flights are fully booked in coach. Vietnam Airlines has Premium Economy from 5.5 million VND per ticket, while Vietjet Air has a few seats from 4.1 million VND.
On Hanoi–Da Nang, seats at peak hours are nearly exhausted. Only late-evening flights are available, with prices ranging from 2.3 million to 3.6 million VND per ticket depending on the carrier.
To meet rising demand, Vietnam Airlines Group plans to offer nearly 1.12 million seats during the Hung Kings festival and the 30/4–1/5 period, up about 15.5% year-on-year. On routes between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, seats are up nearly 30%.
Vietjet Air said it added 500 flights, up 16% from the same period last year. This brings total seats for the peak period to 832,000, an increase of 130,000. The additional flights are focused on routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hue, Quy Nhon, Tuy Hoa, Quang Binh and Phu Quoc.
Airlines collectively urged travelers planning holiday trips to book early and to check in online at least 24 hours before departure to reduce waiting times at the airport.
On the regulatory side, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said it will continue to monitor market developments closely to coordinate take-off and landing slots during peak periods such as the Hung Kings Festival, 30/4–1/5, and the summer of 2026. The aim is to ensure capacity utilization and support airlines in meeting rising travel demand.
