Bitcoin price started a fresh surge and cleared the $73,800 zone. BTC is consolidating and could target additional gains above the $75,000 level.
Bitcoin found support near $70,500 and began a new upward move. The price gained momentum and moved above the $72,000 and $72,500 resistance levels.
Bulls pushed BTC above the key $74,000 level, forming a high at $74,966. The price is now consolidating gains above the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level of the move from the $70,517 swing low to the $74,966 high.
BTC is trading above $74,000 and the 100 hourly simple moving average. A steep bullish trend line is forming on the hourly chart of the BTC/USD pair, with support at $73,800.
If price holds above $74,000, it may attempt another rise. Immediate resistance is near $74,800, followed by the first key resistance at $75,000.
A close above $75,000 could push BTC higher to test the $76,500 resistance. The next major barrier for the bulls is $78,000.
If Bitcoin fails to rise above the $75,000 resistance zone, it could start another decline. Immediate support is near $73,800 and the trend line.
The first major support is around $73,250. Next support is near the $72,750 area, also aligned with the 50% Fibonacci retracement level of the move from the $70,517 swing low to the $74,966 high.
Further losses could move BTC toward the $72,200 support in the near term. The main support is at $71,500, below which BTC may struggle to recover in the near term.
