Ca Mau broke ground on the Khai Long Wind Power Plant – Ca Mau, Phase 1, with an
investment of more than 6.32 trillion dong, contributing to clean energy development and the local economy. On July 1, in Dat Mui commune, Ca Mau province, Khai Long Wind Power Joint Stock Company Khai Long 1 organized the groundbreaking ceremony for the Khai Long – Ca Mau Wind Power Plant, Phase 1. The project is located at ấp Rạch Thọ, Đất Mũi commune, with a total investment of over 6.32 trillion dong and a designed capacity of 100 MW. The total area used is about 480 hectares, including 454 hectares of sea area and about 26 hectares of land. According to the plan, the project will be completed and commissioned in May 2028. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by delegates who performed the ceremony for the Khai Long – Ca Mau Wind Power Plant, Phase 1, with a total investment of over 6.32 trillion dong. According to the investor, the project comprises 16 wind turbines, each with a capacity of about 6.25 MW, plus a 35/110 kV substation and a double-circuit 110 kV transmission line about 24 km long connected to the 220 kV Nam Can Substation. When in operation, the plant is expected to supply around 253 GWh of clean electricity per year to the national grid, equivalent to the electricity consumption of about 105,000 households. The project is also expected to contribute roughly 40-50 billion dong per year to the local budget, while reducing CO2 emissions by about 167,000 tons per year, contributing to green growth and energy security. At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Huỳnh Chí Nguyện, Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People’s Committee, stated that the project is being implemented in Dat Mui – an area with many difficulties and few large-scale projects, so the project will not only bring economic development but also create jobs, improve livelihoods, boost infrastructure investment, and help transform the local landscape. Provincial leaders noted that the project underscores Ca Mau’s attractiveness to investors in renewable energy and provides a foundation for the province to become a clean energy hub in the Mekong Delta. The investor noted that the project aligns with national renewable energy development directions, conforms to Power Planning VIII, and Ca Mau’s green energy policies, and that the company will mobilize financial resources, human resources, and technology to complete the project on schedule. Earlier, on June 20, the locality broke ground on the Japan-Bạc Liêu wind power plant with a capacity of 50 MW and total investment of nearly 2,500 billion dong. Additionally, two wind projects, Dong Hai 13 and Dong Hai 3 Phase 1, with total capacity of 150 MW and investment of nearly 5,400 billion dong, have also started construction, illustrating the locality’s push to attract investment in renewable energy to leverage its long coastline and favorable wind conditions.
