In the March 2026 annual assessment, Skytrax confirmed that Da Nang International Airport’s Terminal 2 (T2) continues to hold a 5-star rating for the third consecutive year. The result highlights the terminal’s operational capability and the service-quality commitment of Da Nang Airport Investment and Exploitation Joint Stock Company (AHT), while also providing a basis for T2’s development in the new phase and reinforcing Da Nang as a reliable and distinctive international aviation gateway.
The achievement comes as T2 faces its strongest demand pressures to date. In 2025, T2 served 6,811,448 passengers, more than 70% above its initial design capacity of 4 million passengers per year. Skytrax’s findings indicate that T2 has maintained high standards across core areas including terminal space, waiting areas, sanitary facilities, passenger information systems, service utilities, and digital experience.
Skytrax also cautioned that growing passenger volumes, particularly during peak periods, could affect the quality of the passenger experience if infrastructure expansion is not timely. AHT therefore faces the challenge of balancing continued growth with sustained service quality.
Mr. Do Trong Hau, Deputy General Director of AHT, said that maintaining a 5-star Skytrax standard is both a source of pride and a heavy responsibility. With passenger flow continuing to rise, pressures on infrastructure and service quality are intensifying. He noted that expanding Terminal 2 is not only a capacity requirement, but also a prerequisite for sustaining international service standards, meeting rising passenger expectations, and protecting Da Nang’s image as the city’s international gateway.
AHT said its approach goes beyond isolated improvements. The company is building a holistic, systematic experience ecosystem with passengers at the center of their journey from check-in to boarding. This includes linking operations, branding, and culture, as well as partnering with professional artists to develop contemporary art spaces, performances, workshops, and heritage touchpoints arranged in a consistent experiential logic from check-in to gate. AHT also reported that gate areas themed on Central Vietnam’s heritage and nature are being studied and implemented to give international travelers a distinctive sense of the region they have arrived in or are about to depart from.
AHT also cited support from the Da Nang City administration, relevant departments and agencies, and airport units. In particular, the 2026 assessment recorded significant improvement in the customs area. Compared with 2025, the score for waiting time handling rose from 1.5 to 4.5, while the operating efficiency score increased from 1.5 to 4.0. Skytrax further noted that there are no longer congestion issues and praised the proactive ability to add processing lanes during peak times, reflecting effective cooperation between AHT and customs authorities to enhance the international passenger experience.
Skytrax’s three consecutive years of 5-star ratings are described by AHT as evidence of operational capability and sustained service-quality commitment, forming a foundation for Terminal 2’s ongoing development in the new phase. The company said the ratings reinforce Da Nang’s position as a reliable international aviation gateway with a strong local identity and create opportunities for the sustainable development of Vietnam’s aviation sector. Looking ahead, Terminal 2 is expected to remain a bright spot on the regional and international aviation map.
