Elon Musk’s X has introduced Smart Cashtags for iPhone users in the United States and Canada, embedding live stock and crypto market data directly inside the platform. The feature was announced on April 15 by X head of product Nikita Bier, who said the update is designed to connect financial discussions in the app with real-time charts.
Smart Cashtags activate when a user searches for or posts a cashtag or a contract address. X then suggests matching stocks or crypto tokens, and the user can select the exact asset. After a cashtag is tapped, the app opens a page that shows posts tied to that asset alongside a live price chart.
X said the goal is to help users track the correct ticker or token while reading market conversations on the platform, reducing confusion—particularly during fast-moving sessions.
Reports around the launch indicated that users can access live charts for Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, Solana, Dogecoin, USDT, and USDC. The feature also includes market pages for stocks such as Coinbase, MicroStrategy, Tesla, and Nvidia, placing real-time financial data next to posts that often drive discussion among traders and investors on X.
The feature is currently limited to iPhone users in the US and Canada. X said the system automatically matches stocks and crypto assets when users type a cashtag or contract address into a post or into search, directing users to the correct chart and discussion page.
The release prompted immediate discussion on X about whether the feature could expand beyond finance. Investor Paul Katsen suggested a dockable experience for live information spanning news, events, sports, and shows, combining summarized updates, live posts, and quick access to ongoing conversations without leaving the main feed.
Bier responded with “Give me 18 hours.” X has not announced a broader rollout of that idea, but the exchange highlighted interest in additional real-time discovery tools.
Alongside Smart Cashtags, X announced a pilot integration with Wealthsimple in Canada. Under the pilot, users in Canada will see a button on supported Cashtags that allows them to trade through Wealthsimple. The trading option is limited to Canada and adds a brokerage link to the financial data already shown inside the app.
The launch came as crypto market sentiment remained cautious. Earlier, Bier said the crypto market dip needed something to turn the tide positive. Around the time of the launch, Bitcoin had recovered and stayed above $73,000 after a steep decline from earlier highs. XRP was also reported to have recovered after rising more than 0.89% as of press time, trading at $1.39.

Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
