From July 1, 2026, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (Ministry of Construction) requires each passenger not to carry more than two power banks, and these devices must be transported in carry-on luggage. Power banks containing lithium metal batteries must have a lithium content not exceeding 2 grams, while lithium-ion power banks must have a rated energy not exceeding 100 Wh. If a lithium-ion power bank has a rated energy exceeding 100 Wh but not more than 160 Wh, its carriage must be approved by the aircraft operator before the flight. Additionally, passengers are not allowed to recharge spare power banks on board. Spare power banks must be removed from carry-on luggage, placed in a visible location, and not used to recharge other devices while on the aircraft. The competent authorities also require airlines to enhance communication with passengers about these mandatory requirements.
