Gold trading firms have collectively warned the public about fake fan pages impersonating official accounts, urging customers to verify information carefully and to make purchases only through official channels to avoid scams.
Firms said many counterfeit pages have appeared by taking advantage of rising gold demand to deceive customers. These pages often use names similar to official accounts, copy images and logos, and post content nearly simultaneously to create the appearance of real-time updates.
Some sites also run advertisements and generate fake engagement. In certain cases, they display a blue verification badge, which can mislead even cautious users. Common invitations on these pages include registering to buy gold bars, scheduling trades, securing positions with deposits, arranging delivery, and requesting prepayment.
Phú Quý Gold Investments JSC issued a notice warning about impersonation of its official Phú Quý Silver page for fraud purposes. The company stated that it is not running any promotions for gold or silver products at present.
The firm also said commemorative items—such as the 50-year national reunification collection and the 80th National Day collection—have been discontinued and are no longer for sale, meaning any related sales information is incorrect.
Phú Quý emphasized that only the single legal entity named Phú Quý Gold Investments JSC should be used for customer transactions. It warned that other entities with similar names do not belong to the official system and advised customers to transact directly at stores, through authorized agents, or via official customer service channels.
“We only use the sole legal entity named Phú Quý Gold Investments JSC for transactions with customers; other entities with names including Phú Quý but not this exact legal entity are not legitimate,” the company asserted.
Bao Tin Minh Chau also warned about impersonators misusing the brand to set up fake fan pages, sometimes with a blue verification mark, posting inaccurate information and carrying out fraud.
According to Bao Tin Minh Chau, common scams include inviting customers to schedule online gold purchases, register to hold purchases, and requesting personal information or prepayment to receive offers or gifts.
The company stated that it does not sell gold bars online or promote circulars for ordering gold online, and it does not require customers to transfer deposits to personal accounts. It said all transactions are conducted through a single official account under Bao Tin Minh Chau Co., Ltd and at official business locations.
Separately, Bao Tin Manh Hai confirmed that it does not conduct any online accumulation gold sales and does not trade a product named “Dai Kim Cat.” The firm said related promotional information is fake and advised customers to interact and transact only through official channels, including the sole official Facebook page, the company website, official Zalo OA, and stores nationwide.
Customers were told to ensure the correct link shows exactly “baotinmanhhai.vn.” Any fan page with a link that does not exactly match is fake and not part of Bao Tin Manh Hai. The firm also provided a verification hotline: 18002209.
Earlier, Saigon Jewelry - Gold and Precious Stones Co. (SJC) warned about multiple fake fan pages impersonating the brand to deceive customers.
SJC said counterfeit pages bearing names such as “SJC Ho Chi Minh” and “SJC Da Nang” appeared, illegally using the company’s images and branding. These pages copy content from official channels and post information about registering to buy gold bars or rings to build trust.
SJC noted that these fake pages also run advertisements and generate high engagement (likes, shares, comments), sometimes with a blue badge, to cause confusion. The company emphasized that customers are not required to transfer funds before receiving gold, deposits to hold gold are not accepted, and all transactions must be conducted at official points.
With online fraud techniques becoming increasingly sophisticated, firms said verifying information sources and avoiding transactions through unofficial channels are key measures to protect personal assets.
