To meet rising clearance demand during the peak Southeast Asia fruit season, the Dongxing Border Trade Zone in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China has begun operating eight additional fruit-inspection warehouses, together with ancillary facilities, significantly boosting clearance capacity. Beidou Construction Investment Co., Ltd. Guangxi says that under the guidance of cross‑agency bodies such as customs and border inspection authorities, the system of fruit-inspection warehouses in the area has been renovated and expanded. Currently, the Dongxing border zone is bustling, with many trucks carrying tropical fruits like jackfruit and dragon fruit from Vietnam lining up to complete entry procedures and being moved into the new inspection depots now in operation. Previously, the area had only four fruit-inspection warehouses, which limited clearance capacity during peak seasons. Re-purposing unused routes into main import conduits and adding eight more inspection depots with supporting facilities raised the total to 12, improving throughput for crossing vehicles. In the near term, the Dongxing Border Trade Zone will continue to work closely with authorities to optimize clearance, upgrade service infrastructure, and study facilitation measures such as smart inspection and scheduled clearance. These efforts aim to shift from a "border economy" to a "port-based economy" and to promote on-site processing, helping to bring more fresh fruits from Southeast Asia, especially Vietnamese fruits, to Chinese consumers in shorter timeframes.
