On the afternoon of April 21, Hanoi’s Terminal Joint Stock Company (Hanoi Bus Terminal) announced that 66 transport companies operating on 214 interprovincial bus routes at Giap Bat, My Dinh, and Gia Lam terminals have increased ticket prices by 6% to 50%.
At Giap Bat terminal, Anh Nguyen Transport Trading and Service Co., Ltd. (Anh Nguyen Transport) was observed to raise fares by 30% to 33% on routes to Thai Binh (old, Hung Yen) and to Nho Quan (Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh).
At Giap Bat terminal, there are 22 transport companies across 55 interprovincial routes that increased fares.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Tung, Director of Giap Bat Terminal, said that to date, 22 interprovincial transport companies (more than 20%) have adjusted fares on 55 routes. The operators attributed the increases to rising fuel prices since February, with the price fluctuating from 19,000 dong to as high as 44,000 dong per liter (more than double).
Mr. Tung added that the fare increases have been approved by state agencies, and the transport companies have submitted written notices to the terminal.
According to Hanoi’s Terminal Joint Stock Company, by the afternoon of April 21, at My Dinh, Gia Lam, and Giap Bat terminals, 66 transport companies operating on 214 interprovincial routes had increased fares, with increases ranging from 6% to 50%.
The Yen Thuy Transport Cooperative recorded the largest increase, up to 50% on the My Dinh – Lac Son (Phu Tho) route, with fares rising from 100,000 dong to 150,000 dong per passenger.
