Ho Chi Minh City has issued a plan to implement tasks and solutions to support the development of the mechanical engineering and automation sector, one of the city’s key industrial sectors, with the aim of driving modernization and economic growth for the city. The plan sets out specific targets, including organizing at least two loan-guiding conferences for interest-rate subsidies and aiming for at least two enterprises to access preferential financing. In addition, the city will host 5-10 training courses for human resources and organize 1-3 trade promotion events for the sector. These targets are not only about financial support but also focus on improving the quality of the workforce and expanding markets for mechanical and automation products. One highlight of the plan is building a list of core and potential industrial products for 2026–2030, prioritizing areas such as precision mechanical engineering, industrial robots, and automation equipment. The city also focuses on developing a high-quality workforce through training and collaboration with enterprises, while upgrading training facilities to international standards. These steps ensure that Ho Chi Minh City’s mechanical engineering and automation sector can compete in the international market. Trade promotion activities are also being intensified with domestic and international fairs and exhibitions to connect companies with FDI partners and support brand building. The city expects to organize at least one large-scale expo and one supply-demand matching conference in the year. This is an opportunity for sector enterprises to showcase products and seek strategic partners. In financial terms, Ho Chi Minh City will continue implementing interest-rate support policies and link banks with enterprises to address capital constraints and expand production. Companies will also receive support for intellectual property, technology transfer, and applying quality management systems. This will not only help alleviate financial burdens but also enhance competitiveness. Additionally, the city is focusing on manufacturing infrastructure development, prioritizing land allocation in industrial zones and creating a plan for an industrial park to apply high-tech and environmentally friendly technologies. Some export processing zones and existing industrial zones will be piloted to transform towards high-tech and environmentally friendly orientation. These strategic steps aim to create a favorable environment for the sustainable development of the mechanical and automation sector. This plan demonstrates Ho Chi Minh City’s determination to develop the mechanical and automation sector and also opens up opportunities for businesses in the field. With support from the authorities and favorable policies, the sector is expected to make significant progress in the future, contributing to sustainable economic development of Ho Chi Minh City.
