On the afternoon of April 3, at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Public Security, the Police Department for Investigation of Corruption, Economy and Smuggling (C03) said the case involving Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and related units is under investigation for three charges: violations of bidding regulations causing serious consequences; offering bribes; and receiving bribes.
Among the defendants, Vu The Phiet, former Chairman of ACV’s Board of Directors, was charged with the offense of “Violating bidding regulations causing particularly serious consequences” under Article 222 of the Penal Code.
The investigating authorities determined that Phiet accepted money to facilitate the bidder’s winning of the bid for projects in which ACV is the investor.
In addition to Phiet, ACV’s Deputy General Director Nguyen Tien Viet was also charged with the same crime.
The investigation agency said it is continuing to expand the case. As a result, details about the acts, as well as their nature and extent, have not been disclosed yet.
Earlier, in early March 2026, ACV announced that several senior leaders were indicted and remanded.
ACV currently plays a key role in national aviation infrastructure, managing and operating 21 airports, including 11 international airports. It is also the investor in the Long Thanh International Airport project, a major national infrastructure project.
