On May 11, 2026, Huong Giang Taxi Transport Cooperative and GSM Green SM Mobility JSC announced the expansion of their strategic partnership. Under a new agreement, Huong Giang Taxi will purchase 1,500 VinFast electric cars and fully convert its fleet to battery-electric vehicles as it expands operations across Bac Ninh province.
With the additional 1,500 electric vehicles, Huong Giang Taxi’s fleet size will rise to more than 2,000 vehicles. The company will become one of the five largest partners of Green SM nationwide. Green SM will continue to support Huong Giang Taxi as an advisor, assisting with operations and working to maintain efficiency and stability as the fleet scales up.
Green SM and Huong Giang Taxi will also implement a franchise-like collaboration model. The approach is designed to allow drivers to progressively access and own the vehicles they use, with the aim of increasing driver engagement and proactivity in day-to-day operations.
The companies said the scale of the investment and the deepening of cooperation reflect a broader shift toward green transportation. Green SM’s role includes providing vehicles and technology platforms, as well as supporting partners in restructuring and expanding business models to drive growth.
In remarks at the signing ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Chairwoman and CEO of Huong Giang Taxi Transport Cooperative, said: “Investing in owning a fully electric fleet is a strategic move that helps the company operate proactively and enhance competitive capacity, aligning with the market's green transition. Through the cooperation with Green SM, we are gradually participating more deeply in Vietnam's green mobility ecosystem and delivering greater social value.”
Mr. Tran Le Phuong, Global Deputy CEO of GSM Global, said: “The partnership with Huong Giang Taxi shows that electric vehicle-based mobility is ready to be deployed at scale with flexible formats. Green SM will continue to accompany partners in the transition, ensuring operational efficiency and sustainably expanding the green mobility ecosystem.”
Since 2024, Huong Giang Taxi has introduced VinFast electric vehicles on Green SM’s platform in Bac Giang province (formerly). After more than two years of deployment, the operational effectiveness and fleet size have grown rapidly, creating a foundation for complete electrification and expansion into Bac Ninh.
Beyond Huong Giang Taxi, Green SM is currently supporting nearly 100 transport companies and 11 bus operators nationwide in their transition to electric vehicles. The companies said the combination of Green SM’s technology platform and operational experience with that of traditional transport firms is forming a scalable cooperation model intended to support Vietnam’s transport electrification.
