Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has requested that Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital, Campus 2, be put into operation in the second quarter. On the morning of April 14, he chaired a meeting with the Ministry of Health to review the implementation of tasks assigned to the ministry and to consider proposals related to health care, public health protection, and people’s health, including matters concerning the two hospital projects.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the government is resolutely addressing outstanding issues and projects, aiming to remove difficulties and obstacles. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Ministers, the Minister of Health, and other officials.
The meeting heard reports on the status of implementing tasks assigned to the Ministry of Health, particularly regarding the implementation of Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation; Resolution 72 on a number of breakthrough solutions to strengthen health care; and Conclusion 18 of the Second Central Conference on the plan for socioeconomic development, national finances and public debt, and mid-term public investment for 2026–2030, aligned with the target of achieving growth described as the “two numbers.”
Discussions also covered progress on investment projects for Viet Duc Hospital Campus 2 and Bach Mai Hospital, along with recommendations to address difficulties.
After hearing reports from the Ministry of Health and remarks from other ministries and vice premiers, the Prime Minister concluded that the government is actively handling lingering issues and is determined to remove obstacles and complete necessary procedures.
He stressed the need for coordination among ministries to finalize construction documents, fire safety acceptance, environmental licensing, and other remaining tasks. The goal is to ensure the two hospitals commence operation in Q2 2026 as directed by General Secretary and President To Lâm.
The Prime Minister also directed the Ministry of Health, in coordination with relevant ministries, to finalize special mechanisms to operate the two hospitals, with a completion deadline no later than April 2026.
The Prime Minister further instructed the Ministry of Health to thoroughly review tasks and proposals related to implementing resolutions of the Party’s 14th Congress, Resolution 57, Resolution 72, and other central and national resolutions, focusing on key tasks for 2026. He asked the ministry to lead and coordinate with relevant bodies to initiate and complete tasks in line with standards, ensuring quality and progress, and to report progress to him regularly.
Additional notes related to the meeting and the projects included leadership and administrative arrangements to support timely execution, with continued emphasis on ensuring the two hospitals become operational in the second quarter of 2026.
