On 14 April 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City Civil Enforcement Department (THADS) officially announced the appraisal results for two Hermès handbags owned by Truong My Lan. The handbags had been seized since 28 January.
According to the appraisal certificate issued by Thịnh Vượng Real Estate Valuation and Investment Co., the handbags were valued as follows:
During earlier court proceedings, Truong My Lan testified about the origin of the luxury items. She stated that one bag was purchased in Italy, while the other was a gift from a Malaysian magnate.
Under the enforcement process, within five working days from the notification, the parties to the case may request a revaluation once and must pay an advance for the revaluation. The parties also have the right to agree on an organization to auction the assets.
If the deadline passes without a revaluation request or agreement, the enforcement officer will independently select and sign a contract with an auction organization to carry out the sale of the assets in accordance with the law.
In appellate proceedings in June 2025, Truong My Lan requested the return of the two bags, arguing they were private property unrelated to the case. The request was not granted. Courts at all levels concluded that the two white Hermès bags originated from criminal proceeds or were personal assets formed from those proceeds, and therefore ordered continued seizure to ensure her obligations under the case.
