Saudi Arabia has resumed crude oil exports through the East-West pipeline, its main export artery, after days of disruption caused by attacks. On April 12, the Saudi Energy Ministry said it had fully restored pumping capacity along the pipeline, which transports crude from eastern fields to the Yanbu port on the Red Sea.
The East-West pipeline is the kingdom’s only export route at a time when the Hormuz Strait has been closed for more than a month. Earlier, Reuters reported that Iran attacked the pipeline, reducing transport capacity by about 700,000 barrels per day.
The ministry said facilities affected by the attacks had been repaired and that operations were back to normal. Saudi Arabia did not identify the attackers.
The ministry cited a recovery in output from the Manifa field, where production had fallen by about 300,000 barrels per day. It also said work is continuing to address damage at the Khurais field, where output had fallen by 300,000 barrels per day.
Saudi authorities said the rapid restoration of pipeline pumping capacity would strengthen the reliability and continuity of supply for both domestic and global markets.
