Sun PhuQuoc Airways will begin operating a direct Van Don–Ho Chi Minh City route from mid-June 2026, with four flights per week, according to Sun Group.
The airline will launch a direct Ho Chi Minh City (SGN)–Van Don (VDO) service starting 15 June 2026. Flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways said the direct SGN–VDO route will significantly reduce travel time by removing the need for traditional transfer hubs. The carrier also described the route as a strategic trade and connectivity bridge, supporting connections between supply chains, commerce and tourism across the two economic regions.
The airline expects the service to act as a catalyst to attract domestic tourists from the southern region to Quang Ninh.
Van Don International Airport is positioned as a strategic infrastructure gateway in Vietnam’s Northeast, linking modern transportation with major landmarks in Quang Ninh, including Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, and the island tourism system of Quan Lạn, Minh Châu and Co To.
For 2026, Quang Ninh targets attracting 22 million visitors, including 5.2 million international visitors, with revenue of about 65,000 billion VND.
The new air link is also expected to help southern travelers access Sun Group’s tourism, resort and entertainment ecosystem in Quang Ninh, including Hilton Quang Hanh Onsen Resort, Sun World Ha Long entertainment complex and Sun Elite City in Bai Chay ward.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways highlighted that visitors can experience bay fireworks and other late-night offerings, including the VUI-Fest market, music, cuisine and entertainment activities.
For residents of Quang Ninh and nearby areas, the route is expected to provide easier access to Vietnam’s largest economic hub, supporting investment and business exchanges.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways said tickets for the direct SGN–VDO route will go on sale from 5 May 2026, with passenger service beginning from mid-June 2026.
In the peak summer season, the airline said its presence on the SGN–VDO route will address travel demand and boost domestic tourism, supporting local development.
