The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has announced adjustments to slot coordination parameters at Tan Son Nhat International Airport for the peak holiday period of April 30–May 1. The daytime slot frequency will be raised from 44 flights per hour to 46 flights per hour in the 6:00–23:00 window, effective from April 25 to May 5, 2026.
The authority said the adjustment follows a review of actual traffic-carrying capacity, optimization of peak-hour slots, and prioritization of key routes. Uong Viet Dung, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, said the increased coordination parameters are intended to support flexible and efficient operations, reduce delays, and meet rising passenger travel demand during the holiday.
Airline schedules for the period also indicate a significant increase in capacity.
A Vietnam Airlines representative said the airline will continue to monitor demand closely to operate flexibly and will encourage passengers to book early during the peak period.
Vietjet is expected to add about 500 flights, up 16% year over year. Total seats are projected at around 832,000, up 18%. Flights will focus on domestic routes with high demand, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hue, Quy Nhon, Tuy Hoa, and Phu Quoc.
The authority said the increased flight frequency at Tan Son Nhat, together with airlines’ additional flight plans, is expected to ease transport pressure and help ensure stable aviation activity during the peak holiday period.
