Vietlott’s mobile phone lottery distribution channel has surpassed 4 million registered accounts after more than five years of operation, offering popular products including Power 6/55, Mega 6/45, Bingo18 and Lotto 5/35. Vietlott SMS reached the milestone in April, following its launch in late 2020.
Vietlott said the mobile channel was developed as part of a broader shift in users’ entertainment habits. It allows busy customers to buy lottery tickets conveniently on their phones, including Power 6/55, Mega 6/45, Bingo18 and Lotto 5/35, using a linked bank account.
According to Vietlott, the main reasons users are attracted to Vietlott SMS are convenience, speed and transparency.
Vietlott SMS accounts require users to be 18 years old or older and to complete identity verification using a national ID.
A Vietlott spokesman said the verification process helps limit the risk of losing tickets or misreporting information. The company added that transactions are recorded, winning tickets are notified by SMS, and prizes under 10 billion VND are transferred directly to the established account.
Minh Tan, an office worker in Ho Chi Minh City who has participated for many years, said the most attractive feature of Vietlott SMS is convenience. He noted that users can select numbers and pay quickly through the linked bank account “wherever I am—in my home, at work, or even at a cafe.”
Phuong Thuy, a homemaker in Ho Chi Minh City, said she rarely makes phone transactions due to concerns about personal data theft, particularly with unfamiliar games or online ads. She said Vietlott SMS feels safer because it is an official channel and requires identity verification, helping ensure the ticket is hers and cannot be stolen or forged.
Vietlott cited a large jackpot won via this channel: nearly 257 billion VND won by a MobiFone subscriber in August 2023. The winner said they were surprised to receive a Jackpot 1 notification, which Vietlott representatives described as evidence of the system’s transparency.
Vietlott SMS currently integrates multiple payment methods, including e-wallets such as Viettel Money, MoMo, ZaloPay, My MobiFone and VNPT Money, as well as digital banking apps including VPBank, MBBank, VietinBank and Vietcombank. The company said the goal is an “all-in-one” experience for users.
