On Earth Day, April 22, 2026, Vietnam Airlines held a launch ceremony for the Green Alliance – Sustainable Development (Green Alliance), signaling a shift in how the airline approaches sustainability by linking and coordinating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives in line with international ESG standards.
The event was attended by representatives from state management agencies, international organizations, and partner organizations involved in sustainable development programs, including leaders from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the National Coordinating Center for organ transplantation, and the Traffic Police Department. International participants included SkyTeam, Facing The World, and Operation Smile, alongside domestic enterprises.
Green Alliance is a voluntary collaboration model initiated by Vietnam Airlines. It connects partners at home and abroad to form a platform for linking and coordinating sustainable development initiatives. The model’s message, “Fly high, sustainable ambitions,” reflects an approach in which economic growth is paired with responsibility to the environment, society, and future generations.
Vietnam Airlines said it has implemented sustainability programs across three pillars—environment, social, and governance. Reported initiatives include the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), the “Fly Light” campaign to Con Dao and to Hanoi, and a food donation program after flights.
Beyond airline operations, Vietnam Airlines has worked with government agencies and civil society organizations on community activities such as transporting organs for emergency services, planting and restoring forests, raising awareness of cybersecurity, and building a Green Library.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa, Chairman of the Board of Vietnam Airlines, said: “Green Alliance is not only a cooperative initiative but a long-term commitment by Vietnam Airlines in its green transition. We believe sustainability is no longer a choice, but a foundation for competitive strength and long-term growth. As the national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines will actively connect and coordinate with government agencies and partners to implement practical programs that create lasting value for society and the environment.”
At the ceremony, Vietnam Airlines signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for 2026–2030. The airline also signed a cooperation mechanism with the National Coordinating Center for organ transplantation and the Traffic Police Department to enhance humanitarian activities and public service delivery.
Activities under Green Alliance are implemented across three pillars—environment, social, and governance—through specific programs including SkyTeam’s Aviation Challenge 2026, the development of the “VNA Net Zero” system, promoting recycling of materials on flights, and expanding community initiatives in health, environment, and social welfare.

Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
