Vietnam and South Korea have reaffirmed and deepened their comprehensive strategic partnership during high-level exchanges. In Hanoi on 22 April 2026, the General Secretary and President of Vietnam To Lam and his wife hosted a state banquet for President Lee Jae Myung of Korea and his wife, Kim Hae Kyung, underscoring the commitment to deepen the Vietnam – Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The bilateral relationship, built on historical-cultural affinity and complementary interests, has expanded to high value-added areas such as science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, energy, and infrastructure. Approximately 350,000 Vietnamese live in Korea and about 200,000 Koreans live in Vietnam, providing a solid foundation for people-to-people exchanges. High-level visits have not only deepened friendship but also strengthened cooperation between the two nations and their peoples. The alignment of cultural affinity, political trust, and economic complementarity is the basis for continued growth of the bilateral relationship toward peace, stability, and prosperity. Vietnamese leaders expressed confidence that the Vietnam–South Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to grow more robust and substantive, contributing to regional and global peace and development. In response, President Lee Jae Myung expressed gratitude for the warm reception and said both countries would continue to work together for common prosperity, recognizing each other as reliable partners, especially in science & technology, innovation, and digital transformation. He stressed that the two sides share a commitment to peace and dialogue, and that concrete cooperation flows will be realized to advance bilateral ties.
