Vietnam Fatherland Front coordinates and mobilizes resources to broaden humanitarian work across the board. Như Nguyệt April 29, 2026, 15:00 At the launching ceremony in Hanoi, the Vietnam Red Cross Society organized the National Humanitarian Month 2026 launch with the theme '80 years — a journey of compassion for the community.' Speaking at the launch, Bùi Thị Minh Hoài, a Politburo member, a Central Committee Secretary, and the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, said this event is of deep political, social, and humanitarian significance; contributing to spreading a spirit of compassion, solidarity, and cohesion among different strata of people and across society. Emphasizing that humanitarian aid and charity are a noble tradition of our nation, she affirmed that “loving people as one’s own” and “the good neighbor helping the poor” are beautiful expressions of compassion that have become core values and a powerful spiritual strength of the Vietnamese people, helping the country overcome many difficulties in its process of building and defending the Fatherland. "Our country is entering a new era — an era of development, reform, and breakthroughs, building a country that is increasingly wealthy, prosperous, civilized, and happy." In this context, humanitarian work must be defined more clearly: not only as social support activity, but also as one of the pillars of a modern social security system, contributing to political and social stability, strengthening public trust, and ensuring fast and sustainable development; at the same time, it is a vivid expression of national cultural identity and the nation’s soft power in international relations, she noted. According to Hoài, in May 2026, various levels, sectors, and localities will carry out many practical activities to mark National Humanitarian Month. This year also marks the fifth year that the Vietnam Red Cross Society has been assigned by the Party Secretariat to lead the annual National Humanitarian Month; thereby gradually helping to make the occasion a national, far-reaching, humane, and sustainable activity. In the time ahead, to continue doing well and strengthen the core role in humanitarian work, Hoài proposed that the Vietnam Red Cross Society increase its initiative in advising on strategic directions for humanitarian work, closely linked to the modern social security system to ensure universality and sustainability; further professionalize humanitarian activities; innovate resource mobilization methods, build a modern humanitarian ecosystem, and connect effectively between the State, business sector, international organizations, and the community; push ahead with digital transformation and ensure transparency; actively expand and elevate humanitarian diplomacy and participate more actively in international aid activities, contributing to enhancing Vietnam’s position and image. Moreover, there should be increasingly effective and practical operations to ensure National Humanitarian Month truly becomes the “month of action by the people for humanitarianism,” with clear objectives, specific targets, measurable results, making a deeper and wider impact. "The Vietnam Fatherland Front and member organizations should continue to play a leading role in mobilizing and connecting social resources; the business community, organizations, individuals, and all people should continue to join hands with concrete, sustainable actions to build a compassionate society," Hoài emphasized.
