Purchasing power improved, combined with a policy reducing 50% to 100% of registration fees and favorable loan interest rates, has attracted consumers back to car shopping, especially before the summer travel season.\n\nAccording to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), VinFast and Hyundai Thanh Cong, more than 60,600 vehicles were sold in April. Among them, Toyota remained the top-selling foreign brand with 6,676 units delivered (including Lexus).\n\nA highlight is the strong rise of the Toyota Veloz Cross—leading the gasoline MPV segment and entering the top 10 best-selling models in the
market. With 1,624 units handed over, the Veloz Cross and Avanza Premio recorded the best monthly performance since 2023.\n\nAn industry expert said the growth stems from two factors: ample supply and broad promotional programs. From B-segment sedans to SUVs, MPVs are covered by promotions. The total cost of ownership has declined significantly, encouraging consumers to pay earlier to receive their cars before the early-summer period.\n\nPROMOTIONS CONTINUE, SUMMER BUYING DRIVE\nCustomers choosing Toyota models will receive promotions ranging from 50% to 100% registration tax relief until May 31, 2026. Specifically, urban models such as Vios and Yaris Cross are applying a 50% reduction in registration tax, saving buyers 23–27 million VND for Vios and 33–37 million VND for Yaris Cross, depending on version. For 7-seat MPVs, Toyota offers 100% registration tax relief and 1 year of body insurance, corresponding to reductions of 73–75 million VND for Veloz Cross and 65–70 million VND for Avanza Premio. In addition to registration tax relief, the company implements financing promotions, reducing monthly payments for customers who buy on installments. The B-segment MPVs benefit from 0% interest for the first 12 months. Fixed rates start at 6.99% for 12 months for Vios, Hilux, gasoline variant of Yaris Cross, Corolla Cross and Innova Cross. Hybrid models apply 6.99% fixed for the first six months.\n\nIn Vietnam, price remains the key factor in deciding which car to buy, especially amid economic challenges and tighter household budgets. Ten- to tens-of-millions reductions and ongoing incentives extend not only help push sales but also help customers decide when to commit.\n\nThe MPV segment is expected to continue to hold an advantage into the peak summer period. Since 2025, the number of customers viewing and purchasing 7-seat MPVs such as Veloz Cross has risen significantly; about 78,000 MPV units were sold in 2025, up over 40% from 2024, reflecting what dealers are observing.\n\nThe Veloz Cross is seen as an economical choice for both families and transport-service operators, thanks to its spacious interior, flexible seating, and advanced safety features, including Toyota Safety Sense. Its combination of practicality, safety, and low running costs meets the needs of the two main customer groups during the high-demand summer season.\n\nMarket outlook for the coming months remains highly competitive, but for consumers, this is a favorable time to own a private vehicle. Toyota’s ongoing promotions across a broad product range demonstrate the company’s effort to broaden access to vehicles during this peak period.
