VN-Index rose for the third consecutive session, tracking the upper band of the Bollinger Bands. The index also closed above the 50-day and 100-day SMAs, reinforcing the uptrend.
Major indices stayed in positive territory on 14/04/2026. The VN-Index gained 0.95% to 1,775.65 points, while the HNX-Index rose 0.3% to 252.41 points.
VN-Index opened with bullish momentum, rising nearly 25 points shortly after the market opened. Selling pressure increased at higher price levels as liquidity remained cautious, pulling the index back below 1,770 during the morning. In the afternoon, the market showed clearer differentiation but maintained a positive tilt, closing at 1,775.65 points, up 0.95% from the previous session.
In market-cap terms, VS-LargeCap continued to lead and support the index. VS-MidCap also posted gains (+0.6%), while VS-SmallCap rose slightly (+0.16%).
Regarding influence on VN-Index, the 10 most influential stocks contributed more than 18 points. VIC and VHM together accounted for nearly 15 points. On the downside, BSR and GAS trimmed 1.77 points in total.
VN30-Index rose 20.89 points (+1.08%) to 1,946.55 points. Market breadth favored advancers with 21 rising, 8 falling, and 1 unchanged. VHM led with a 4.9% gain, followed by DGC, VIC and HPG, each up more than 2%. On the other hand, STB, GAS, PLX and VNM each fell by more than 1%.
By sector, media and real estate were the strongest gainers. Notable stocks included VGI (+3.64%), FOX (+1.86%) and CTR (+2.11%), alongside VIC (+3.44%), VHM (+4.88%) and VRE (+1.27%).
The steel group also performed strongly, with many stocks surging: HPG (+2.7%), VGS (+5.83%), SMC (+4.81%), TVN (+7.32%), and GDA (+4.32%). Several names hit the ceiling, including HSG, NKG and TLH.
On the downside, energy faced broad selling pressure, including BSR (-3.84%), PLX (-1.35%), PVS (-1.78%), PVD (-2.49%), OIL (-1.33%), PVT (-2.67%), PVP (-1.02%) and PVC (-2.92%).
VN-Index remained close to the upper band of Bollinger Bands and stayed above the 50-day and 100-day SMAs, further strengthening the uptrend. HNX-Index moved in a range around the 50-day SMA, signaling cautious sentiment. Money flow dynamics were mixed, with foreign net inflows supporting the market.
The Vietstock Economics & Market Strategy Team said the market continues to show resilience around key moving averages, supported by leadership from large caps and selective sector breadth.
