At the launch event for the Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long project, Ms. Nguyễn Thu Hằng, CEO of Vinhomes, said the project’s first residents will receive a monthly rail-pass package for the Hanoi–Ha Long high-speed rail line. The estimated price is around 5 million VND, with unlimited travel.
Compared with current commuting costs, the offer is positioned as competitive. With a one-way distance of about 150 km, employees traveling regularly between the two locations could spend roughly 5 to 5.5 million VND per month by motorcycle, while using a private car could cost more than 13 million VND per month, excluding other expenses.
Beyond cost, the expected time savings are significant. The high-speed rail is expected to reduce the Hanoi–Ha Long journey to about 20–30 minutes, from the current 2–3.5 hours. This could make a “live in Ha Long, work in Hanoi” model more feasible than before.
On 12 April, the Quảng Ninh provincial People’s Committee, in cooperation with Vingroup and authorities in Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Bac Ninh, officially broke ground on the Hanoi–Quang Ninh high-speed rail line.
The project is led by VinSpeed Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, with total capital of more than 147,000 billion VND (equivalent to over 5.6 billion USD), excluding land clearance costs.
The line will run about 120.2 km and pass through four localities: Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, and Quảng Ninh. It is planned as a double-track line with a 1,435 mm gauge, fully electrified, and a maximum speed of 350 km/h. The Hanoi section will be limited to 120 km/h.
Under the plan, the route will use modern high-speed trains and an advanced signaling and control system supplied by Siemens Mobility, with technology transfer to VinSpeed gradually during operation.
The starting point is Co Loa Station (in the Vietnam Exhibition Center area, Vinhomes Global Gate Hanoi), and the end point is Ha Long Station, located at Ha Long’s Globe Ha Long forest park (Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long). Three transfer stations are planned: Gia Binh (Bac Ninh), Ninh Xa (Hai Phong), and Yen Tu (Quang Ninh), along with a depot at Ha Long Station.
According to the project plan, the signaling and control system will be provided by Siemens Mobility, with technology transfer to VinSpeed gradually during operation.
In related developments, VinGroup’s main contractor for the high-speed rail has increased its capital by 10,000 billion VND, surpassing Coteccons, Hoa Binh, Deo Ca…
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
