On the evening of 29 April, the Duyet Thi Duong Theatre in Hue’s Imperial City hosted “Dạ yến Hoàng cung,” a program designed to recreate the Nguyễn dynasty royal banquet atmosphere through a refined combination of imperial cuisine and traditional performing arts.
Held in the historic space of the Duyet Thi Duong Theatre, “Dạ yến Hoàng cung” is presented not simply as a dinner, but as a cultural experience carefully staged to reflect the formal ambience of old royal banquets. Organizers say the program’s details—ranging from décor and serving rituals to the performance schedule—are arranged to mirror ceremonial court protocols.
The dining setup is elaborately prepared to echo the ceremonial layout of ancient court banquets. The highlight is an imperial court menu in which each dish is treated as both a culinary offering and an art form.
The menu includes dishes with names that evoke nobility and prosperity, such as “Nem Cong - Cha Phuong,” and items noted for their presentation, including “Tôm ngự thuyền Rồng,” which recreates the image of a ruler’s voyage in a poetic setting.
Alongside the imperial offerings, the program also features refined Hue dishes such as “Hương sen Tịnh Tâm” and “Chè hạt sen bọc long nhãn,” reflecting what organizers describe as the royal culinary philosophy of purity, harmony, and emotional depth. The menu is said to change seasonally to refresh the visitor experience.
“Dạ yến Hoàng cung” pairs the banquet setting with performances of court Hue music and traditional acts. The banquet hall is illuminated to evoke the nights of the royal palace, while the interwoven performing arts space is intended to create a complete, immersive experience.
According to the organizers, the program will continue on the evening of 1 May 2026. Tickets are priced at 1.7 million VND per guest, with a limited capacity of 130 guests per night. Organizers say the smaller scale is intended to support a more personalized experience and maintain service quality.
By combining imperial cuisine with traditional performing arts in a historic setting, “Dạ yến Hoàng cung” is positioned as a distinctive cultural tourism product that enriches Hue’s nighttime services. Organizers describe the program as a gateway to the depth of Nguyễn dynasty culture, aiming to leave visitors with an impression of an elegant, refined, and emotionally rich royal palace night.
